Dream Notebook - Tattered Angels

I have recently been playing with my glimmer mists a lot more and this gorgeous clear embossed strong and sturdy card is just perfect for some misting. It comes in all sorts of amazing embossed patterns, I used this one to create a notebook cover and back, simply wrapped around some chipboard.

Here is a detailed view of the Tattered Angels ornate embossed frame with a book page back and the word DREAM stamped inside it.

Vintage Love Notebook

I have been playing with the old glimmer mists for a bit recently and one of my creations is this A5 sized notebook/journal. I used Tim's Kraft resist paper and sprayed it with mists, then went a bit crazy with the butterfly background stamp to create a more interesting background. Add corners. Tattered Angels frame with LOVE stamped on an old book page and some crackled wings. Bind, add fibers and done. Took a bit longer to make than it sounds but I really like it. It's nice and shimmery and vintagy in real life.

Here is a little close up, this might give you a better idea of how nice it shimmers.

Notebooks and my bind-it-all

If you've been following the past few days you would already have seen my off cut notebooks. And they were offcuts from when I cut the pages for these little notebooks.

This first one is a favourite. I've recently got all these photobooth pics for a project I'm doing, so I had them scanned in and it came to me I could print them on sticky back canvas and make it into a notebook. Love it!!!

This one is using denim for the cover. It's a pair of old jeans I had since I was 16 or so. I loved them so much but they just stopped fitting me. So here they are recycled with one of the new Dina Wakley stamps.

This one is made from a Japanese fabric, the company is called Kokka and they do all these amazingly cute prints. I love this one for having a London theme. So sweet.

The sticky back canvas and bind it all wires are available from Happy Daze. I am entering the first notebook into their "Little Black Dress" Challenge. I could not be without my bind it all and sticky back canvas to make sweet personalized notebooks like that. If you have been following for a while you may remember the notebook I bound for my mum and sister using photos of theirs. It's simply to print on sticky back and make such personal gifts. Offcut notepads and new Art Journey Stamps

I have gone a little crazy making notebooks in the past 2 weeks. When I cut my pages I have these long pieces of paper left over and I thought why not bind them too, with a nice cover, they would make a good pad for writing lists. I am a bit of a fan of writing lists, whether it's shopping, to do or things to make, anything gets listed.

So for this one I used some sticky canvas that was sprayed with inks and stamped with the new Art Journey stamp from the Pen Nibs set.
I saw these in Craft Stamper and just had to have them, but it turned out they had not even been released. One email later my order was in and I absolutely love the writing stamp, it'll be a new favourite of mine. Perfect for backgrounds or notebook covers.

So this one is being entered into the Art Journey Challenge where the theme is Autumn Colours.

Another bunch of offcuts was made into this notepad. It is fabric covered and then I stamped some Artistic Outpost Images on the front. This I am entering into the Artistic Outpost Referral Program.

Watch this space for the actual notebooks I have been creating, after all these are just the offcut pads. I am loving my little notebook collection, I think I made about 15 or so. They will make fab little gifts so pop back to check them out!

Alter it monthly - June - Canvas

It's time for another month at Alter it monthly and this month the theme is canvas. This could be a piece of canvas or a canvas frame, use your imagination. We look forward to seeing your entries. And as always there is a prize to be won!

I had some fun with sticky back canvas and as I recently found out you can print on the stuff very easily I printed another old photo. This time it's my sister outside my grandmas house. I covered some chipboard with the canvas, distressed the edges and spritzed it with some silver shimmer mist. Add some fibers, a type charm with my sisters initial and there you go, a lovely little present.

I'm trying to resist....

....chocolate that is, but it never works.
So over at The Stamp Man we are playing with resist techniques.
I made a notebook cover with kraft paper, hence this whole thing turned out a bit dark. I stamped the cover (front and back) with some spills and splatters and embossed them with clear powder, then spritzed the whole thing with different glimmer mists.
I didn't aim for the whole smudgy, dirty look but as it says on the cover - EMBRACE IMPERFECTION.

Handmade Notebook with a tad of embossing

I made a few more notebooks for the craft fair and out of the 5 I finished off yesterday, this one if my favourite. It's A5 with white pages and the cover has been made using Tim Holtz papers, green and gold shimmer mists and the embossed image is by Artistic Outpost (The Outpost).

I am entering this into the Simon says Challenge - Emboss it and the Gingersnap Challenge - Mists. And not to forget the Artistic Outpost Referral Program.

Oh have I mentioned I made the Top 10 on the Gingersnap blog for the first time, yeah I'm so pleased I'm a Ginger Gem.

More moleskine notebooks and more of my folksy venture

I had a whole lot of moleskine notebooks lying around here so I thought I should do something with them. In fact I have a whole huge box of things that are waiting to be altered/painted/decorated, got to work my way through that and stop buying new stuff.

So here are the 2 notebooks I liked the most out of the ones I made. I put them on folksy, trying to find out what sells on there and what doesn't, so I'm putting up a lot of random items to sell and see how it goes.

This is also being entered into the Simon says Challenge, the theme is 'Make a gift'.

This is using some paper artsy stamps I really like, it's a cure little row of houses. I just coloured them with brush markers and added some glossy accents. Very quick and easy.

Tim Holtz dies and a challenge win!!! How exciting!

So, I've only just managed to catch up on all blogging. Turns out I won the challenge on Lynne is in2crafting. How exciting is that!!! Also been going through a few blogs for inspiration and will be having some fun with frames and crackle paint on monday, hopefully for some nice bloggable things. But for now I wanted to share my fanciful flight die butterflies with you. I just inked them up with distress inks (mustard seed, aged mahogany and black soot) and stamped some script on the wings. Very easy but I think very effective, esp on a kraft background. It's a moleskine notebook (another one!).

And a slightly smaller butterfly for a birthday card. Im not sure why I chose to use the light green and black together but I love this card. Again, it's pretty easy to do. I don't do complicated. I guess I'm just too cautious.

My altered journals....

I've had a busy week of spending way too much money on various Tim Holtz and other craft products, a little trip to Blade Rubber Stamp shop in London (it's only a walk away from my work, very dangerous!!) and last but not least doing some crafting.

I'm very pleased with some of my creations this week. As mentioned in a previous post I wanted to alter some mini moleskine journals I bought. It's really addictive, I'm off to buy more blanks later to do more!!! But here are the ones I created yesterday:

There were all really quick to make so I can only recommend it, they make sweet little presents I think.

This one is my favourite. The bird stamp is from the Tim Holtz "Life's Possibilities" stamps sheet. I just tied some string around the cover, fed it through a Making Memories "Dream" coin and tied a bow over a piece of tracing paper stamped with a script stamp. Done.

This was the first one I made. The script is Tibetan sanskrit and means "Younger Sister", I had it translated and then made into a stamp. I used gold perfect pearls for it. And then I added 3 punched circles, 2 of them stamped and one is a sister definition from an old dictionary.

To finish it off I tied some red and black fibre around the spine.

They are my entry to the challenge over on Tuesday Taggers!

I know the journals come in all sorts of sizes and colours, so I think I might have to work my way through the whole collection until I've altered one of each colour and size. I'll let you know how I get on.
