My Tim Holtz inspired Collage piece....

So, having spent months admiring other peoples collage pieces and distress ink creation I finally made one myself and may I say I'm really pleased with it.
I used one of them cheap ikea mirrors, only £1.19, perfect for altering. I cut up all the little squares and rectangles from white card and then inked them in either mustard seed or scattered straw. Then I worked over the top with aged mahogany and inked all the edges with black soot. It's amazing how every piece turned out so different with just the 3 colours on each. I then randomly stamped images in mainly black soot and a few in aged mahogany. It took a while to assemble the whole thing but worth the while I think.

I then added some embellishments on top. My favourite being the little copper butterflies.
Around the edges of the mirror I stamped random words using the Hero Arts Fanciful swirl Alphabet.

I went with the "Free as a bird" challenge theme over on
Ink on my fingers (great blog, check it out!!). It's the first time I'm entering the challenge there but it's been a fun one and I hope to be back for more.

My CPS - Card Sketches entry....

Here is yet another Challenge entry, this time it's for CPS - Card Sketches. Been making a lot of elephant cards this week, not sure why. They make nice "man cards" though I find. The challenge is sponsored by My favourite things.

Card Patterns Sketch 61 entry....

This is my entry for Card Patterns this week, the sketch was really simple and I kept it that way. These 2 notecards only took me a few minutes to put together from little die cuts I had lying around on my desk, so even thrown in a bit of recycling here. The challenge is sponsored by Limelight Papercrafts this week.

My scrapbook pages ....

I got into scrapbooking last year when I suddenly thought I could make a scrapbook for my Dad's 60th birthday. It was a bit of a mission as I had to secretly scan in all the old photos when I went home to see my family in November. The birthday being in January that didn't leave much time to make it but I managed 20 pages by the birthday and now I'm still catching up on scrappng all the other old pictures. Here is one of my Dad. And below you can find one of my mum when she was little and also my mum with me, my sister and brother. I love working with old black and white photos and giving the pages a grungy, vintage feel. Loads more old photos waiting to be scrapped so off I go to do some more crafting!

Fantasy - My Sir Stampalot Challenge Entry

This is my entry for the Sir Stampalot Challenge, the theme is fantasy. I've used a stamp I had made up from a photo and one half of the wings of one of the Tim Holtz stamp sheets. And the imagine stamp is from Catslife Press (love their stamps!).

My Stampers Anonymous order is finally here!!!!!!

Finally I received my order from the States today. Only took 6 weeks or so, I stopped counting in the end. Turned out to be rather pricey as they charged me loads for vat and fees. But it's here now and I have grungepaper, yippie, and shiny new stamps and an alterations die and other fun stuff!!!

I'll be back later to post yesterdays makings and I also have to enter some challenges. Off to work now.

Tim Holtz inspired.....

I've recently bought a whole lot of Tim Holtz products and currently working on my collection of distress inks, just loving the stuff. Still waiting for a giant order from the US but so far no sign of it. Anyway, so I've been getting a lot of my inspiration from the Stamper's Sampler Magazine and the Take Ten issues and came across some nice vintage photo corner/bird house tags and thought I had to give that a go and this is the result...

Birthday cards.....

Slightly late post this week, have been very busy. Friends of mine were after birthday cards so I did my best and came up with a bunch of designs.....

I love purple and the card on the left I really like, it's so simple to make and quick.

With those two I tried to keep any colour out as it makes it a male as well as a female card alike. I find it difficult making cards for men, it's always blues and greens, I can't seem to get past that, so I think this one is a good compromise.

Two more male cards here. Inspiration came from the Take Ten magazine. As said before, it's typical male colours with the blue and brown and the Kraft card. I really like those though.

It's been a busy and exciting day. Had to make a bunch of birthday card for people and they all turned out really nice, I'm pleased. I'll be posting some photos tomorrow. And I'm rather excited, I won the hero arts stamp set on the sketch 57 challenge over on Card Patterns. Haven't won anything since I was a child, and I'm loving Hero Arts at the moment, so I'm very pleased!!!

There is 2 pictures I want to add as I'm entering the Tuesday Taggers Challenge, the theme this week is bugs! I cant seem to post the photos in this post, they are always the wrong way up and I insert them, has anyone had the same problems? No matter how much I rotate them and then upload them, they are always the wrong way. Very frustrating. If anyone know how to overcome this problem give me a shout!!
